At White House Academy, we believe that students should have a voice in shaping their educational experience, and that's why we have established a vibrant and inclusive Pupil Representation program. These roles empower students to take an active role in making our school a better place.
We are currently recruiting pupils for these roles for the 2026/27 academic year.
Pupil leadership is an integral part of the Rights Respecting School engagement approaches taken by STEP academies. At White House Academy, children are given opportunities to be active participants in school life through a range of groups including; Pupil Parliament, Play Leaders, Pupil Librarians and Eco Warriors.
Here's a brief overview some of these roles roles:
Pupil Parliament: Our Pupil Parliament represents the voice of our students. They meet regularly to discuss important school matters, propose ideas for improvements, and work with school staff to make positive changes. Members of Pupil Parliament will often go to other classrooms to ask younger children for their views and opinions, then feedback to the rest of the group. We then use these suggestions to inform our actions moving forwards. In this way we can ensure that all children have had a voice in all aspects of and improvements to the school.
Pupil Librarians: Our Pupil Librarians are passionate about promoting literacy and a love for reading. They assist in the library, recommend books, and create a welcoming reading environment for all students.
Eco Warriors: Committed to environmental sustainability, our Eco Warriors are responsible for raising awareness about eco-friendly practices. They initiate projects to reduce waste, conserve resources, and make our school a greener place.
Play Leaders: Play Leaders are dedicated to ensuring that everyone has a safe and enjoyable playtime. They organise games and activities, mediate conflicts, and promote inclusivity and kindness on the playground.
Our Pupil Representation program empowers students to develop leadership skills, learn about democracy and decision-making, and contribute positively to our school community. We encourage active participation and engagement from all students.
